Ribchester Roman Re-enactments 12 Jul 2009 - 13 Jul 2009
The annual Roman re-enactments take place every year on the second weekend of July on Ribchester Playing Field. Every year it involves Legio Secunda Augusta who are based in Portsmouth. They put on exciting and realistic demonstrations about everyday and military life. There are military displays, the firing of artillery, Roman Cavalry and gladiatorial combat to see and opportunities for children to dress up in Roman armour.

Rolls Royce rally, 19th July, Lytham

This is the annual gathering of around 60 Rolls-Royce and Bentley motor cars with ages ranging from 1920s up to current models. Public are permitted to view the cars without charge and discuss with their owners.

The Womens British Open Golf Championship
The Womens Open Golf Championship at Royal Lytham & St. Annes, Lytham-St-Annes from the 30th July-2nd August. Often cited as one of the premier links courses in the world, Royal Lytham & St Annes last hosted the event in 2006. For further information on the course click Here

Burnley Balloon Festival
The annual hot air balloon festival gets underway at Towneley Park from the 24th-26th July. A real treat for all the family with huge hot air balloons floating in the sky over the town and the surrounding hills.

The Garstang Agricultural Show reputedly one of the Best One Day Shows in the Country, takes place on the 1st August 2009. For further details click here

Pendle Bike Fest covers every aspect of cycling including National Series races, a challenging Sportive ride, leisure rides and activities for people new to cycling.
Set in the beautiful Pendle area of East Lancashire, The Tour of Pendle road race received rave reviews from the cyclists and cycling media last year and promises to be even better this year.

Southport Flower Show runs from the 20th-23rd August and is one of the largest, most diverse and friendliest shows in the country. Set in the 34 acre Victoria Park, visitors can expect to see spectacular show gardens, water features and 1 million beautiful blooms. It's the ideal opportunity to chat to gardening celebrities, browse the arts & crafts and sample the best produce in the fine foods marquee, with cookery demonstrations by celebrity chefs.

For the family there is live music, arena entertainment and plenty for the youngsters including the new Kidz Kr8, a marquee dedicated to educate children about our environment, healthy eating, physical developmental and outdoor fun.
It's a great day out for the whole family! Children under 16 are free when accompanied by a paying adult.

Blackpool Illuminations
The 4th of September sees the Big Switch on Blackpool Illuminations. At 10 kilometres long and using over one million bulbs, the illuminations are an awesome spectacle and run until the 8th November. Beach Volley Ball
Blackpool is to host the CEV European Championship Tour Beach Volleyball event in September 2009.

The tournament will run from the 10-13th September on four purpose-built competition courts on Blackpool's newly reconstructed St Chads Headland, on the promenade against the backdrop of Blackpool’s world-famous Illuminations.

The 64th Annual Hodder Valley Show is on Saturday 12th September, 2009 at Slaidburn nr Clitheroe Lancashire.

The event is a traditional agricultural and horticultural show, being the perfect family day out, with something for everyone to enjoy. Every year the show is visited by upwards of 3000 people, experiencing a slice of rural life in an idyllic setting.
